Local Nebraska Writing Project teachers and NeWP's director recently contributed to professional development days in both the LPS and OPS systems!! 

At OPS, Landon Chapin, Ilene Sigman, and Rae Carlson presented on NeWP and the work they are doing in their own classrooms, including how to support students in "Constructing A fluent identity."

At LPS's "Write On" PD, there were multipule NeWP Presenters: 

  • NeWP Director, Rachael Shah: "The un-five-paragraph essay"
  • Lindsay Masin:  "Creating a community of writers"
  • C. Meier-Bates: "From crutch to catalyst: using sentence starters to deepen student thinking"
  • Lauren Funk and Tara Moore: "Pen to paper in the age of AI"
  • Stacey Waite: "Teaching argument creatively"
  • Maggie Weihan: "save time and stress with sustainable practices for the teaching of writing: ways to give and facilitate feedback for student success"

 

We love seeing all the cool things that teachers in our program are doing! We appreciate it!
