Young Writers Camp

Young Writers Camp (Grades 8-12)

The Young Writers Camp offers a two-week program (Monday through Friday, 10am-1pm) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We offer workshops in slam poetry, fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, mystery, song-writing, poetry, memoir, and screen writing! Young writers work with professional writers, professors, teachers, and undergraduate interns! Grades 8-12

Summer 2025 Registration Form

In addition to attending camp and working with accomplished writers in the community, you will:

  • Work one-on-one with a writing mentor
  • Have your work collected in a YWC Anthology
  • Give a public reading of your work in a celebration of writing on the evening of the final day of camp

Dates: June 16 - 27

UNL City Campus

10 am - 1 pm weekdays

Camp is open to all aspiring young writers, grades 8-12.

Cost of camp: $250. Scholarships available! Email Stacey Waite at swaite2@unl.edu for information about scholarships and programs. All Writes Reserved poets are eligible for discounts. Car pools from Omaha often available.
