This summer, the Nebraska Writing Project is proud to be sponsoring the Young Writers Camp and the I Love to Write / We Love to Write camps!
The Young Writers Camp (YWC) offers a two-week program (Monday through Friday, 10 am - 1 pm) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It has slam poetry, fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, mystery, songwriting, poetry, memoir, and screenwriting workshops! Young writers work with professional writers, professors, teachers, and undergraduate interns! It is open to grades 8-12. This camp allows students the opportunity to work one-on-one with a writing mentor, have your work collected in a YWC anthology, and give a public reading of your work on the final day of the camp! The camp costs $250 and scholarships are available. For more information on these scholarships, email Email Stacey Waite at swaite2@unl.edu.

The I Love to Write / We Love to Write camps are a series of summer writing workshops for youth and families to write in a supportive environment. This year’s workshops will focus on a variety of writing styles, strategies, genres, and activities. Sessions will meet on the UNL Campus for a week in June. The Celebration of Writers Ceremony is held on the Saturday at the end of the week. These workshops are led by Sandra Peter and Susan Dinsdale, experienced teachers of writing, and the camp is sponsored by the Nebraska Writing Project.
There are three camps in total for a variety of different ages. There is I Love to Write for ages 9 - 13. I Love to Write 2 for ages 12 - 15, and We Love to Write which is a summer workshop for families!
