From her first involvement with the Writing Project in 2003 to the present day, Jen’s professional and personal life has been shaped by her work with the teachers she has met in the Summer Institute, two advanced institutes, and writing marathons. Writing and learning with teachers helped her develop her belief that writing helps us understand and know. She infuses writing throughout the learning in her classroom daily and believes in writing with her students to show them that writing is a lifelong practice. Working with adults through the Nebraska Warrior Writers workshop has energized her thinking about writing as she and her co-facilitator foster the development of all levels of writers. Whenever she feels in need of an educational sounding board or mentor, she knows she can call upon one of her many NeWP colleagues for support or guidance.
